Are spas usually taken or left behind when moving?

Hi Pros! Due to my job relocating, I must move to a different town. My spa is only about 9 months old and I would really like to take it with me. Is that ever done?

Hi Kenny,Moving a hot tub spa

Yes! We strongly recommend taking your spa with you. We recommend even more strongly moving away from Minnesota to a place that is not quite so frozen and closer to the equator.

A quick search in your local area should provide you with some contact information on spa moving companies.

A local provider may not be able to transport your spa across states however. For that, you should contact the freight company that is moving your furniture and other household items.

If your spa is not so new, it may not be worth the price to have the old one moved. The money that you would spend to move the old spa might be better off put toward a brand new spa, that may have jets or other features the previous spa did not have.

Be sure to hire a licensed electrician for the installation of the new spa at your new location. This is one area it really does not pay to be a do it yourselfer!

Also, be sure to check if there is a homeowner’s association at the new location, as they may require you to furnish them with a copy of the UL tag from the spa cover, proving to them that the spa is safe from children being able to access it and drown.

Have a good move and Happy Tubbing!
