No one wants to live in an undecorated house or work in a plain Jane office, so why would you give your hot tub the minimalist treatment either? Just like your living room or backyard, your hot tub is an area in which you relax and enjoy yourself, so your choice of décor should reflect that. Here are 5 easy DIY ideas for spa zone decoration.
- Spa covers are an easy place to start. Normally, hot tub covers come in a range or brown or tan leather, and are relatively ho-hum in appearance. You can buy a slipcover for the top, however, to dress up your cover with the color of your choice or even the emblem of your favorite sports team. Whatever you choose, use your slipcover as the starting point for the rest of your theme.
- Fairy lights are cheap as can be, especially around the holidays, twinkle or fairy lights are a simple way to add ambiance to your hot tub environment. String them from the rafters if your tub is indoors, or hang them off of deck railings or patio eaves. They are especially cute twined around the branches of outdoor trees or indoor houseplants.
- When you’re relaxing, you want all the amenities: water, glasses and a radio are the bare minimum. If you want, you can spring for a waterproof neck pillow or some insulating beverage sleeves. If your tub is outdoors, consider making a tote you can take outside with you, or setting everything up on a small rolling cart.
- You hot tub is a spa, after all, so why not dress it up like one? Cute themed towels on a special rack can help add to the wow factor of your humid hangout, and “complimentary” flip-flops that your guests can borrow are helpful when you’re getting in and out. Set the towel rack near the tub, but somewhere it won’t get rained on, for an easy grab-and-go effect.
- Top it all off with a lantern or several. Easily purchased at home goods stores, hanging lanterns add a faintly exotic flair to soaking environments. They look especially charming hanging in groups of three from ceilings and porch overhangs.
Happy Tubbing!
